Toshimaen is a medium-sized amusement park in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, which used to have a maximum of 4.5 million visitors a year, but now it has only has around 1 million visitors and feels very deserted. But with four roller coasters, eight spinning rides, two water rides, two types of pirate ship, a huge pool and even a maze, there are so many well-rounded attractions that you wouldn't expect to find in the 23rd Ward. But in February of 2020, I heard an outrageous news. That's Toshimaen is planning to close gradually. It was the closest amusement park to my house and I went there with my friends and family, so I'm so sad that it will close. But recently, the shuttle loop, Topspin, Top Spin Hard, Indian, Flipper, Megadance, Flying Carpet, Pirates, and so on have closed, and Toys "R" Us A Hot Spring called Niwa-No Yu(庭の湯)have been built. So its been like Tokyo Dome City, so I understand that the park will be closed, because I think two-thirds of the sales were made by the pool.

Corkscrew

I think Corkscrew is the 3rd most popular attraction at Toshimaen after Cyclone and the Flume Ride. The course is very simple. The corkscrew winds up, drops run through a corkscrew rotation and ends. However, you should be careful when you ride it because if you don't put your neck back your neck will be so injured. And you definitely shouldn't ride it more than 2 times in a row. Toshimaen's corkscrew is inside lots of trees so its not a super boring attraction but its not as fun as the Cyclone, Blower Engine and many more coasters. I of course like the first drop and the corkscrew rotation but its not so good that I really want to ride it. I think the ride is so cool. So I think looking at the coaster is more fun than riding it. And I definitely think Its the most beautiful ride of 4 corkscrews in Japan. Also Toshimaen's corkscrew has no fences near the corkscrew rotation so you can take very good pictures in the front of the corkscrew rotation and there are trees around it so you can take a excellent picture. Its like a small forest!

The Corkscrew in Toshimaen was installed in 1979. Do you think its the first corkscrew in the world? Lets see.

Actually four years earlier it was first opened at a Amusement park in California called Knotts berry farm. It first landed in Japan in 1977 and was installed at Toshimaen two years later. There are currently four Corkscerew's in Japan. By the way the first corkscrew in Japan was made in a amusement park in Chiba called Yatsu Yuen(谷津遊園)Now there is a corkscrew in The Rusutsu Resort, Yagiyama Bennyland, Toshimaen, and in  Nagashima Spa Land. In Kanto, you can only ride at Toshimaen.

The dark blue rail in the back is the Corkscrew.

Flume ride

Flume Ride is one of the two major attractions in Toshimaen with Cyclone, and the waiting time can be as long as an hour, especially in the summer. It's a slow river ride in the beginning, accelerating in the middle and dropping from a height of 4.6 meters at the end. Tokyo Dome City's Wonder Drop is 13m high, Hamanako Pal Pal Pal's Doburako is 14m high, and Nasu Highland Park's water coaster is 20m high, so it's a small flume ride. I can say it to many of Toshimaen's attraction. That's it will run inside lots of trees. There's so many trees in Toshimaen. For the flume ride when you run inside lots of trees you will feel like you're in the jungle and its so fun. Actually its been made on top of a real pond. There's also a waterfall neat the attraction and the stairs are made with wood and I really like this ambience. It goes over the Shakuji River twice too and I think its one of the Japans best flume ride although there's less thrill compared to other flume rides.  There's a smaller version of the Flume Ride near the entrance, so it's fun to compare the big one and the small one. Toshimaen has many popular attractions  of the small kids version such as Cyclone, Mini Cyclone, Eagle, Mini Eagle, Flying Pirates, and Pirates.

You will get wet a little but not a lot. When Its winter Its not crowded so I recommend you to ride it in the winter if you don't like to wait.

The water was very clean.

Mini Flume RIde

Its the kids version of the flume ride that is near the entrance. You can ride it from 90cm~. In the spring there will be some cherry blossoms so you can see the cherry blosooms when you are riding it. I heard that the mini Flume ride will get you more wet than the flume ride so I rode it but I felt the flume ride got me more wet than the mini flume ride. Its not scary at all and its more for kids so if teenagers and adults ride on this I think you'll get so bored.

Its a very small drop.

Mini Cyclone

Its the most new coaster in Toshimaen and it was made in 2009. Its a small coaster to family and kids. There's no big drops but there's many curves and turns. Like the name Mini Cyclone its a version to kids who can't ride the cyclone.

Although the name is called Mini Cyclone the only same part is the log type ride. Cyclone has only drops and camelbacks but Mini Cyclone has no big drops and has many curves and turns a lot. By when It curves there's no thrill at all. Although it is the most kiddy coaster in Toshimaen It has the most safety bars and seatbelt. It runs on top of an attraction called challenge train. It is mainly to kids who can't ride the cyclone or to people that don't like scary rides.  Its not fun as family coasters that are in other amusement park but it was very popular to small kids.

The red rail is the Mini Cyclone.

Total Length 179m

Hight 8m

Maximum Speed 33km/h

Passengers 16 people

Opening Date 2009

There's so many trees in Toshimaen. There are about 500 cherry blossoms tree too.

Because it was summer break there was lots of cars and people but most of the people went to the pool.

Pool

There's a pool in Toshimaen too. There's over 30 water slides, a surf pool, a floating pool, Niagara pool and kids pool. Its one of the biggest pool in Tokyo.

Swing Around

Its on the toop of the roof so its more scary than a normal Swing Around. The yellow one is the swing around. Its on top of a curry restaurant called Masala.

Pirat

This was made 4 years before the Flying Pirates was made. Its steepest angle is 75˚ and its one of the steepest pirate ship in Japan. (Closed in 2019)

Flying Pirates

If you're Japanese and say what's your Image of Toshimaen? I think many people will say flying pirates. Its in the middle of Toshimaen and its on the 5th floor. It will rise up above 45m. Its the highest attraction in Toshimaen. Its not as scary you think because the angle is not too steep.120 people can ride in 1 ship and there's 2 ship so 240 people can ride at once. Although because visitors decreased they are only using 1 ship from about 15 years ago. One sad point is that the view is not so good. Because Toshimaen is inside residential area you can only see houses. By the way the largest Pirate ship is in the Nagashima Spa Land (長島スパーランド). It's called the Jumbo Viking and 160 people can ride in 1 ship so maximum of  320 people can ride in once. So Flying Pirates is the 2nd biggest pirate ship in Japan. By the way Nagashima Spa Land and Toshimaen both has 2 kinds of pirate ship. A big one and a normal one.

Wave Swinger

Its on the 2nd floor so It has more thrill than normal Wave Swingers. I can say this to many of Toshimaen's attraction. The first floor is a Game Center.

Eagle

Its the only Tower attraction at Toshimaen. There's no Ferris wheel and a observetory tower so this is replacing it. It goes up to the hight of 35m and you can see Toshimaen from a high place. This has only a seat belt so I like it more than the Ferris wheel. It goes up spinning and at the top It slows down and then goes down again It's like a observatory tower but it has no windows and is open.  There used to be the same ride in Lina World, Kobe Port Pia Island and in many places but now it's the only Eagle in Japan.

Troika

There are 3 arms and and it spins and you can feel like you're flying. This is on the top of the building too so its thrilling than usual troikas. Same as Eagle its the only ride in Japan. They used to have the same ride in Nagashima Spa Land and in Fujikyu Highland.

Carousel Erudarudo(カルーセルエルドラド)

Causeru Erudarudo is a merry go round that was made in 1907 in Germany. Hyugo Hase made it.  This Carusel was shown in a festival in Germany called October fest. It was called the Trot Wall Lulan.(moving street) and it was known as the worlds most big and gorgeous Carousel. There was 24 horses, pigs gondolas and many different kinds of things. It was all made by hand. It was operating in Cony Island until 1964 but it closed so it arrived In Toshimaen in 1971 4/3 and its been here for more than 45years. All of the Statues are made with wood and all of the horses are made by hand so each horse has a different face. So you can compare and find your favorite one. It also has 3 types of speed and if you sit in the inside you cam enjoy a fast spin and if you sit on the outside you can have a slow spin. Its one of the popular attractions of Toshimaen and I think its the best merry go round in the world.  In 2010 8/7 it became a Mechanical Engineering Heritage. It means that keep it very carefully because its a very important thing and as a cultural heritage and to convey it to the future.

Challenge Train

Its an attraction that you can drive a train. There's some stations and you have to arrive there in the time that you are given. Its pretty hard and I only got 40 points. Its the newest attraction in Toshimaen and it was made in 2017.

By the way there is the same kind of attraction in Yagiyama Bennyland, Karuizawa Omocha Oukoku(軽井沢おもちゃ王国)and in Musashi No Mura. Its under the Mini Cyclone.

Break Dance

Its a attraction that spins on top on a slope. It spins very fast. There will be also a funky and a DJ kind of sound. You will be so happy and funky when you ride this.

Mokei Resha(模型列車)

Its a train that you can see animals and many kinds of things.

Magic

It spins and goes up and down. I think its the only ride in Japan. Its top speed is 35km/h. I really like this attraction because its so fun.

The white ride in the front is the Magic

This is a street that connects to the amusement park from the entrance.

When I went to Toshimaen they were doing a bubble festival? I can't remember the name but it was a festival that you can play with bubbles.

Over All

Toshimaen has great access from the city center of Tokyo and has about 30 different kinds of attraction. Toshimaen's total area is only 22 hectares and its so small. And the pool area is about half of Toshimaen's area so the amusement park area is only about 10 hectares. In the 10 hectares there are about 30  attractions and many restaurants, Game Center and even a skating rink. It looks far until the very back but if you walk for 3~5 minutes you can reach the very back where the Trick Maze is. Its one of the biggest amusement parks in Tokyo and has many kids of rides. In the spring you can look at cherry blossoms, in the summer you can go to the pool, and in the winter, you can skate. Other than attractions, there is a insect house, fishing land, small zoo and even a dog run. I really like Toshimaen so I've been there many times so I was so sad when Toshimaen Closed.
