Washuzan Highland is an amusement park located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Washuzan Highlands is located in Kojima, Kurashiki City, and is about a 30-45 minute drive from the famous Bikan area.  By train, it takes about an hour from Kurashiki Station. Washuzan Highlands is located near the sea, and you can see the Seto-ohashi Bridge from the amusement park. The official name of Washuzan Highland is Brazilian Park Washuzan Highland. So the theme of the park is Brazil. But when the park was opened, it was just an ordinary amusement park but the owner of the park changed the theme of the park to Brazilian style 10 to 15 years ago. First of all, the gate of Washuzan Highand is like Brazilian style. I arrived at the gate about 30 minutes before it opened. Besides me there were people who looked like local high school students and only two families.

By the way, Washuzan Highland doesn't have a free pass. If you pay the entrance fee, you can ride all the rides except for the Bungee jump.

So the only type of price is the admission fee. Adults are 3,800 yen. Its a local amusement park so I can't say its cheap but not as expensive as amusement parks in Tokyo. By the way, the price of free pass for the Hiruzen Kogen Center Joyful Park in Okayama prefecture is 3500 yen.

Washuzan Highland is high when you consider that there are only 11 kinds of attractions you can ride with a free pass. By the way, the price was 2500 yen about 10 years ago. 1300 yen has gone up.

Entrance

Because its Brazilian themed, its like a amusement park on the southern lands.

Its so colorful.

The gate is simple.

Carnival Square

Its the hottest place in Washuzan Highland. There are dong shows all of the day such as the Samba Show, Bingo competition and many kinds of shows.

This samba show is one of the most exciting points of this amusement park.

You don't have to go to Brazil to look at the samba show. You can see it at this amusement park.

He is so groovy

There are many kinds of shows.

Ultra Twister

Its the only attraction on the bottom part of Washuzan Highland. If you want to ride other kinds of attractions you will have to go up the stairs.

This is a roller coaster made by Togo. It starts with a 85 degree drop, a camel back then ends with a heart line roll.

On the day I visited, it was out of service. Actually the Ultra twister has an accident in 2017.and from that accident it was out of service for about 3 years. I knew I wouldn't be able to ride the Ultra Twister, but before the park opened, the Ultra Twister was moving. What if it was open...!? I said is the Ultra Twister open today? to the man standing in front of the gate. But sadly he told me it isn't going to move today. I was traveling all the way from Tokyo to Washuzan Highlands for two days and one night using my summer holidays just to come here. I was so sad

I went in July and after about 1month ago I looked at the website of Washuzan Highland with a nostalgic feeling and found that it opened about 2weeks after I went to Washuzan Highland. It opened with the standing coaster that had a accident in 2019 and 2020. It is a good thing that it is open now but on the other hand, I was disappointed because it opened just only about 2 weeks after I went. I wish I had gone there in August, but I think I'll try it again next time when I visit the Chugoku region.  The only good thing about being out of service is that they gave us a free free pass to use next time. If you live near Okayama Prefecture it's a good present but  I live in Tokyo is I can't go easily.

Camel Back

The Ultra Twister in Nagashimasparland had an air time on the came back so I think this one has an airtime too.

It is located between the pool and the forest.

Before I will introduce other attractions I will introduce the stairs. Its one of Washuzan Highlands fun spots. Because Washuzan Highland is on a hill it has long stairs.

The stairs on the right is the first stairs. If you get up this stairs there are two attractions, Merry go round and the merry cup.

Then after that if you go up a little more you will see two attractions, chain tower and the roder wave.

Stairs 2

Washuzan Highland is made on a hill on the mountain so you will have to go up and down the stairs to ride on the rides. SO this stairs is like the Main Street of Washuzan Highland.

The stairs are so long.

As you can see in the photo on the right side there are one more lane.

In total it has 342 steps

Its so amazing.

Back Nanger

The back-nanger is at the bottom of the mountain and is a backwards coaster which is rare in Japan. Coasters that run backwards in Japan is the Holly wood dream world in USJ, and this coaster. That means you can only try a backwards coaster in 2 amusement parks not including shuttle Loopes and loop the loop. It is the only backwards coaster with loop. It is a very rare coaster, so you must ride it at least once if you go to Washuzan Highland. In a small area It has a drop, a loop, a two-turn horizontal loop, a camelback, etc. It's in a small area but it goes around two rounds in the same space. The length is a little short but its still, it's a great layout and the last camelback has airtime like TOGO. It's has a good course layout and it hops and its the main coaster at Washuzan Highland so I hope it stays open for another 10, no even another 20 years. Until 2018, the color of the rail was white, but in 2019, they repainted them pink. So it was amazingly beautiful. The platform was also pink. By the way the standing coaster runs on the same rail but at a different time.

Bucknanger.

specification

Length 560 meters.

Maximum speed is 85 km/hour.

Height: 28 meters.

Design TOGO

Maximum tilt angle of 45 degrees

Opened in 1998

Height limit: 140cm and up

The ride is simple and looks new.

I think its one of the coolest rides in West Japan.

The course layout is chain lift, 180 degrees turn, a 45degree drop, a horizontal loop, camel back, horizontal loop, big camel back, small camelback, hairpin turn, small drop, camel back, then lastly a hop then the ride will go back to the platform.

The course layout is the same layouts with the TOGO loop coasters but this ride goes backwards so you can enjoy it from a different way.

Chain lift

After the chain lift you will turn 180degrees.

The drop is not so big but the ride is running backwards so its so unique.

This loop is so beautiful.

2 turn Horizontal Loop

I think the peorson who made this coaster is a genius because there are many kinds of elements and especially the horizontal loops maches in this roller coaster.

Second half of the coaster

After the horizontal loop it has a larger camel back, a smaller camel back, hairpin turn then a drop a very small camel back then lastly a hop. You can enjoy an airtime on the last hop. I love TOGO's hop because most coaster has an airtime on the hop.

This is a small loop coaster but you can try backwards type and a standing type on the same coaster! I think its a very well done coaster because in a small space it has many kinds of elements and goes around two times in the same space. Even though it goes around two times inside a small space it doesn't get boring. Its one of the best coasters of Togo and is perfectly fits in this amusement park.

By the way this coaster has an Guinness world record. In 2001 2 people rode on the roller coaster for 35hours and 30 minutes. Its so amazing. I want to try to break this gunnies record!!!!

The chupi coaster is located on the mountaintop area and the course is looks like the number 8 from the top. The course 600m and not long but after you ride on the coaster you will think like you have rode on a 1000m long coaster. This coaster is on top of a mountain so if the wind is blowing, it's more fun. This coater is an simple camelback coaster. The first drop is really fun and it feels like you are plunging into the forest. The first drop twists and turns as you drop so its more scary and fun compared to other coasters. After the first drop, it will run around the horizontal loop. Then after the horizontal loop there is a camel back that you can see the Setonaikai(瀬戸内海. You can also see the Seto Bridge(瀬戸大橋). After the camelback it turns around the corner and goes back to the platform. It's a very simple coaster, but you will want to ride it again and again. By the way the  vibration is as strong as a wooden coaster.

This coaster is on a excellent location and has a very good layout. Its one of the best roller coasters in Western Japan. Backnanger is a really coaster too but I like this coaster better.

Chupy Coaster

Specifications

Top speed 50km

Duration 2muinites 30seconds

Maximum angle 44 degrees

Manufacture Sansei Technologies

Opening Date 1978 8/3

The rail is so close to the ground.

You can see the sea of Seto from this camel back. The vibration is very strong.

There is the most vibration here so be careful !!

The length is not so long but is a very coaster. I really like the first drop because its inside trees and if you ride on the back of the ride you will feel like you're being thrown out in the trees.

Turbo Drop

Its one of the best attractions in Washuzan Highland. Its definitely the best turbo drop(drop tower) in Japan because the location is amazing. I can say this to most of Washuzan Highlands attractions but when you are riding this attraction you can see the Seto Island Sea. Also its on top of the mountain, so when you are at the top its definitely the highest Turbo Drop. When you're at the highest point the sea level above is 200m. Its so high !!!. Also its the only Turbo Drop in the Shikoku, and the Chugoku Region.

By the way on the top of the mountain, because there isn't big space it has many kinds of tower attractions are made such as Turbo Drop, Sky View, Bungee Jump, and the Chupy coaster. Also all the attractions are made on top of dirt.

Sky view

Its a observatory tower. This attraction is closed now but I think it was a good decision, because there is a big ferris wheel and this tower is only about 40m high.

Please don't care that the turbo drop is bended in this picture.

Sky Cycle

When you hear the name Sky Cycle I think you will think of a ride that you will row the pedal and go forward. Yes that is a sky cycle but the one here is a little different. This skycycle is on a very high place and you can sea the Seto Island sea and the Seto Big Bridge. This Sky Cycle is located on a hill and the hight is 16m high. This is the same hight with a 4 Storie high building.

You will have to go down a little from the top of the mountain.

The Course is pretty long too.

Its so amazing!!

I think this is the worlds most fun skycycle.

If you're not of fear of heights I don't think its scary. If you're on a roller coaster even if you're closing your eyes it will end but if you're riding on a skycycle if you don't row the pedals it will never end. So if you're fear of heights you should never ride on this attraction.

The first half of the ride is fine for people who don't like thrilling machines. However, the second half is quite high, so people who are afraid of heights should not do it. Of course, the first half of the ride is also scarier than a normal skycycle, but the second part is both spectacular and thrilling. I think it's worth it to come to Washuzan Highland just to experience this. But if you like thrilling machines and you can ride any kinds of rides it might not be enough of a thrill for you. But you  will want to ride it repeatedly. It's definitely the No.1 attraction that I want you to ride when you come to Washuzan Highland. By the way on Washuzan Highlands website it says that you can enjoy the world's scariest skycycle and the world's best thrill and view. The website says it's the world's scariest and best in the world, and I think they're right. By the way, there were lots of rust. (All the attractions in Washuzan Highland are the same...) Sorry!! But even through there is lots of rust all the attractions are amazing and can enjoy a great view.

Jungle Cafe

Jungle Cafe is a food stand on the top of the mountain. You can eat rare food such as crocodile meat. Because it was so hot I ate shaved ice.

Its like a big tent

Bungee Jump

I've never tried bungee jumping before, and I decided to try it when I go to Washuzan Highland.  I hadn't been able to challenge it before because I haven't had enough weight, but the Bungee Jump in Washuzan Highland said that you can challenge it from 31kg.  However, I was told that only people over 45kg could challenge due to strong winds on that day. I was so sad. I would like to try it again sometime.

This is the only Bungee Jump in the Shikoku, Chugoku Region. The hight of the Bungee Jump is 22m.

Chain Tower

Its a attraction that often see in Local amusement park.

Its so colorful.

Roder Wave

Its a attraction that moves like a wave. It goes up and down while turning. It was very fun.

Most of Washuzan Highlands attraction is made on top of soil.

Merry Cup

Merry Go Round

Rainbow Warp

Rainbow Warp is a Ferris wheel at the summit of Washuzan Highland. It is a medium-sized Ferris wheel with a diameter of 59m and a height of 62m. It was made by Togo. Washuzan Highland has lots of attraction made by Togo such as Back Nanger Standing Coaster, Roader Wave, Ultra Twister, and the Rolling rocket. This Ferris wheel is on the top of the mountain, so it's 222m high over sea level. The view was spectacular, but the windows were a little dirty. It was opened in 1988 so its newer than other attractions.

Thriller House Cavern Quest

It's not just a normal haunted house but a haunted house  where you use cards to escape. If you pass the 3points you can go to the goal. Its scary

You can't do this attraction with a free pass and the fee is 400yen. If you have money and time please try it because it was really fun.

By the way this attraction is located outside of the park so you will have to exit the gate once.

In addition to rides, Washuzan Highland has a petting zoo, rock climbing, inline skating, frilly clickers, a spiral slider pool (summer only) game center and a samba show. WOW!!

When I was visited, the rock climbing and the inline skating was free because two attractions were out of service. Usually its not free. The Petting Zoo, Spiral Slider Pool and Samba Show were free for people who entered the park.

I went during summer vacation so I was able to get into the spiral slider pool.

Petting zoo

Washuzan Highland has a mini-zoo too. Actually its like a small farm. Because it was in August, I was bitten by mosquitoes on the day I went. The temperature was over 30 degrees so the animals weren't moving a lot, and they looked tired. There were animals such as donkeys, marmosets, iguanas, rabbits, turtles, pigs, goats, hamsters, snakes, ponies, etc. There were no large animals, but its inside a amusement park it was pretty fun. (And it doesn't cost extra money). By the way, there was a hammock too.

Donkey

Pigs

Marmoset

So Cute!!!

Mini Quiz

Q What animal is inside here??

A crocodile ??? Fish???

Answer

Nothing is inside this small pond. They should put some kind of animal here

Rabbit

Iguana

It is an athletic facility in the Fureai Zoo. It seems to be the first time in Japan to use FSC material for trees to protect the environment. (I'm not sure!) There was a slide, rock climbing, and an animal car. It was very hot, so no one was playing.
